1. Your Medical History

Your visit starts with the doctor asking for your medical history, including any prescription or over-the-counter medication you may be taking. It’s very important for your CMWL doctor to understand your overall health when designing your personalized plan.

2. Body Composition Analysis (BCA)

The doctor will ask you to step on a special scale that will give you a total breakdown of the percentages of fat, muscle, and water in your body. Your resting metabolism and blood pressure will also be taken. This gives your CMWL doctor a baseline of where you’ll start your weight loss plan.

3. Consultation with the Doctor

Finally, your CMWL Doctor will review your medical history and BCA results, and then will sit down to get to know you. This is the time to open up about your weight loss goals and challenges, and what you truly want to get out of a weight loss plan. In order for your CMWL Doctor to design your personalized plan, he or she needs to get to know the whole you.

At the end of your visit, you’ll have a plan, personalized just for you! If you decide to move ahead with your personalized weight loss plan, you’ll not only be following a medically proven weight loss approach, but you’ll be building a relationship with your CMWL doctor, who will be your greatest support throughout the process. [iphorm id=”2″ name=”CMWL Patient Form”]


Personalized Just For You

While The Center for Medical Weight Loss (CMWL) provides a core program structure, it’s important to know that no two CMWL plans are alike. Because you are unique with your own personal physical and motivational characteristics, your personalized plan will not be the same as anyone else’s. That’s why the program works – because it has you as its center.

Program Structure

The basic structure of the program consists of three phases: Quick Start, Transition, and Maintenance. Within each phase there are four basic areas: food, exercise, behavioral counseling, and prescription medication.


CMWL_Program_Phases_Chart2 During Quick Start… the food component of the program consists of a low-calorie diet that can only be prescribed by a medical doctor. You will be provided with the high-nutrient foods designed for rapid, safe weight loss. And with behavioral counseling, you’ll start to learn that you really do have more control over your decisions than you may have believed.

In the Transition phase…you’ll have lost weight and notice a difference in how you look and feel. The doctor will continue to prescribe a nutritional low calorie diet for you, but you will also start to add more of the foods you love back into your daily routine. In the Maintenance phase…you’ve reached your personal weight loss goal! You’re enjoying making smart meal choices, you’re more active, leading a healthier life, and may be completely off of any prescribed medication to treat a chronic condition. It’s the beginning of a life-long new you…
